History
2011
The establishment of the Shipping Engineering study program coincided with the establishment of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology. The implementation of the main strategy in the field of strengthening the capabilities of human resources (HR) and national science and technology (IPTEK) in the Kalimantan Economic Corridor is in the Master plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) 2011-2025.
2012-2014
The Shipping Engineering study program started the lecture process in 2012, as many as 20 students with student admission pathways through the ITK Entrance Selection (SMITeK). SMITeK is the result of collaboration between Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government (with the Kaltim Cemerlang scholarship). In 2013, SMITeK opened a national independent route for prospective students who come from outside. Meanwhile, in 2014 SMITek was held through 2 channels, namely: Local Selection with Scholarships for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and Joint Selection for Admission to State Universities (SBMPTN). This year, ITK was also inaugurated as a STATE UNIVERSITY by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
2015
Previously, the Shipping Engineering study program carried out academic activities and lecture processes at the ITS Surabaya campus. In 2015, academic activities and lecture processes from a total of 31 students were transferred to the ITK Karangjoang Campus, Balikpapan. This moment is also the issuance of the decree for the establishment of the ITK Shipping Engineering study program.
Vision
To become a Study Program that excels in producing shipping scholars and plays an active role in the development of national maritime technology based on Kalimantan wisdom in 2025.
Mission
1. Educate with moral values and noble minds in the field of the latest maritime technology.
2. Develop and disseminate application technology based on scientific research in the field of shipping.
3. Play an active role in building and advancing the national maritime world by empowering the potential of Kalimantan.
