Balikpapan – Kalimantan Institute of Technology officially opened the Permata Merdeka Program on Monday (22/02). The opening of the Indonesian student exchange program is intended to introduce lecturers, educational staff, as well as facilities at ITK to students from other universities. Permata ITK Coordinator, Lovinta happy Atrinawati S.T., M.T., CISA, noted that as many as 104 students had filled out study plans to study at ITK as of February 21, 2021.
All students in the program that runs in the second year come from various universities in Indonesia. Among them, Hasanuddin University, Jember University, Lambung Mangkurat University, Padang State University, UPN Veteran East Java, Indonesian University of Education, and Brawijaya University. Meanwhile, ITK opened around 29 courses that can be participated by students of the Permata Merdeka Program. Some of them include courses in Image Processing, Integrated Coastal Area Management, Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics, Innovation and Digital Transformation, and Construction Health and Safety Management.
Rector of ITK, Pro. Ir. Budi Santosa Purwokartiko., Ph.D., said that the breakthrough made by the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (Dikti) was very good. According to him, the program, which was previously called Permata Sakti, provides opportunities for students throughout Indonesia to get to know each other and study at other campuses even though they are online. For this reason, he urged lecturers and education staff to provide the best service for students who take part in the program.
"Hopefully, the ladies and gentlemen of ITK can provide the best possible service for students from other campuses. Ladies and gentlemen can show good teaching methods, so that younger siblings from other campuses have a positive impression," he explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Budi explained that by giving a positive impression to the permata Merdeka participants, it would help in promoting and building the reputation of ITK.
"So we're building a reputation in a simple and slow way. Not with a grand campus or a great program. These things need to be realized that we build that reputation by doing each job in a good way," he said.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector I, Nurul Widiastuti, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D, expressed his gratitude for the trust given to students by choosing ITK in the Permata Merdeka Program. He hopes that what the participants aspire to do while studying at ITK can be obtained.
"Thank you for the trust of all the students' younger siblings to choose ITK in the itk merdeka gem program. Hopefully, what the younger siblings hope to get while attending lectures at ITK," explained the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs.
He hopes that Permata Merdeka ITK students can enjoy an academic atmosphere that may be different from their place of study, and hopes that students can collaborate with ITK students. He also said, in addition to lecture activities, there are student activities that can also be followed to add treasures, knowledge, and experience while studying at ITK. Closing his remarks, he said that ITK would make every effort in providing the best facilities and services for students.
"We will make every effort to provide facilities and services that are available to younger students in the Permata Merdeka Program. Keep the spirit to follow our lectures. Hopefully there will be many blessings and benefits that we can get," he concluded.
