Samarinda, September 16, 2025 - A proud achievement was made by Alyaa Atikah Putri Rizani, a student from the Visual Communication Design Program, Class of 2023, at the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK). Alyaa successfully won 1st Place in the Kreativesia Graphic Design Competition at the city level in Samarinda.
This prestigious competition was organized by the Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disporapar) of Samarinda as a platform to explore and showcase the creative potential of Samarinda’s young generation in design and visual arts.
In the competition, Alyaa presented a work titled “The Roots of Borneo for the World”, a poster design that blends local cultural elements of Kalimantan with a modern touch.
Through her artwork, Alyaa wanted to show that modernization does not have to erase local identity instead, it can serve as a bridge to introduce Borneo’s culture to national and international audiences.
“I want to brand Kalimantan as a region rich in creativity and culture. Today’s young generation should be proud of their local identity,” Alyaa said.
Alyaa’motivation to join the competition came from her desire to promote and expand the opportunities for graphic design in Samarinda. Although she participated independently, Alyaa prepared her work with great dedication, drawing on the knowledge and experience gained during her studies at ITK. Her hard work paid off she proudly brought home the 1st Place title in this prestigious event.
Alyaa victory is a clear testament that ITK students have strong competitiveness in the creative field, not only within the university but also in regional events involving talented youth from various institutions across Samarinda.
Her work, which promotes local cultural branding through modern visual aesthetics, serves as an inspiration for young people to love their homeland while creating works with global value.
“I hope to give my best, especially for my hometown, Samarinda,” Alyaa expressed enthusiastically.
