The Institute of Technology Kalimantan (ITK) held an important event aimed at providing a deeper insight into the Bank Indonesia (BI) Scholarship, as well as introducing the concepts of central banking and rupiah management to students. This event was the result of a collaboration between ITK and Bank Indonesia, also known as the Bank Indonesia Mengajar program. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to learn about various important aspects related to Indonesia's economy and scholarship opportunities that can support their higher education.
The BI Scholarship is a program that provides financial support and career development for high-achieving students with an interest in working in the economic and banking sectors. Through this scholarship, recipients can gain academic training and experience relevant to the banking and national economic world.
In addition to the scholarship socialization, this event was also part of the Bank Indonesia Mengajar program. This program aims to provide a better understanding of the duties, roles, and functions of Bank Indonesia as the Central Bank. In this session, several key topics were presented by representatives from Bank Indonesia, including:
a. The Structure of the Central Bank
This material explained the role of Bank Indonesia as the central bank responsible for regulating and controlling monetary policies in Indonesia. Students were given an understanding of the organizational structure of Bank Indonesia, its function in the economy, and how BI maintains the stability of the national financial system. This knowledge is essential for students to understand the impact of policies implemented by BI on daily economic life.
b. Rupiah Management
One of the main tasks of Bank Indonesia is managing the rupiah currency. This material covered BI's policies on currency circulation, inflation control, and ways in which BI maintains the stability of the rupiah’s exchange rate. Students were also educated on how these policies can affect Indonesia's economy and people's daily lives.
The main goal of this event was to provide clearer information to ITK students interested in applying for the Bank Indonesia Scholarship. With a deeper understanding, students could prepare themselves well for the application process and increase their chances of being selected as scholarship recipients. In addition, this event aimed to introduce basic concepts of central banking and rupiah management to students, so they could better understand BI's role in Indonesia's economy.
This event could take place thanks to the strong collaboration between the Institute of Technology Kalimantan (ITK) and Bank Indonesia. This partnership allowed ITK students to receive information directly from a competent source, Bank Indonesia, which has in-depth experience and knowledge of Indonesia’s economy.
The event was also attended by the Vice Rector for Non-Academic Affairs of ITK, who delivered a warm welcome and fully supported the activity. The presence of the Vice Rector symbolized the importance of campus support in providing facilities for students to broaden their knowledge, particularly in economics and banking.
At the end of the event, there was an engaging sharing session with GenBI (Generasi Baru Indonesia). GenBI is a community of Bank Indonesia scholarship recipients who have experienced the benefits of the program. In this session, GenBI shared their experiences about the BI scholarship selection process, their life as scholarship recipients, and how the scholarship supported their career development.
This sharing session was highly beneficial because it gave students direct insight from those who have successfully received the Bank Indonesia scholarship, motivating attendees and helping them prepare better for the scholarship selection.
This event was an extremely valuable opportunity for ITK students to gain new knowledge about the banking world and Indonesia's economy. Moreover, the opportunity to apply for the Bank Indonesia scholarship motivated many students to pursue higher education and contribute to Indonesia's economy in the future.
Thanks to the collaboration between ITK and Bank Indonesia, as well as the active participation of students and campus representatives, this event was successfully carried out and provided great benefits to all participants involved.
