Balikpapan - Another proud achievement has been earned by the students of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK). The ITK Student Choir, known as Paduan Suara Mahasiswa (PSM) ITK, successfully won the Gold Medalist title at the Nusantara International Choral Folk Festival (NICFF) organized by Deparekraf in IKN, East Kalimantan.

The PSM ITK team was led by Fadhil Sofyan Muzakky and involved dozens of students from various study programs. Throughout the competition preparation, the team was guided by Fulkha Tajri M., S.Pd., M.Sn. Their preparation included regular rehearsals, costume concept planning, and song selection based on the competition’s genre and requirements.

In the preliminary round, PSM ITK performed two songs, namely “Locus Iste” by Anton Bruckner and “Paris Barantai” arranged by Ken Steven. Meanwhile, in the Grand Prix round, the team performed “Rosas Pandan” arranged by George G. Hernandez. The song choices reflected PSM ITK’s effort to showcase vocal quality, teamwork, and strong musical interpretation before the judges.

PSM ITK’s participation in this competition was not only aimed at achieving recognition, but also served as a platform for self-development. Through this event, the team sought to sharpen their singing skills, strengthen teamwork, and bring greater recognition to ITK in the choral field.

This Gold Medalist achievement proves that ITK students are able to excel not only in academics and science, but also in the arts. The achievement also highlights that creativity, discipline, and collaboration are important strengths in bringing the university’s name to a broader stage.

Through this accomplishment, PSM ITK hopes to inspire other students to continue developing their potential. As the team expressed, limitations are not obstacles, but motivation to keep growing and becoming better.
