Balikpapan, October 29, 2026 – Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) hosted Upstream Youth Champs 2026 at the Auditorium of ITK’s Integrated Laboratory 1. Organized by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) in collaboration with Games of Society (GOS), this educational and interactive roadshow introduces university students and young people to the upstream oil and gas industry.

ITK was the sixth campus visited during the roadshow, following an earlier event at Politeknik Negeri Samarinda. Selected as one of 20 participating campuses, ITK served as one of the program’s destinations in Kalimantan.

Through the event, students explored the oil and gas industry while learning about the skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce after graduation. This introduction aimed to help students connect their academic learning with the demands and challenges of the energy sector.

Upstream Youth Champs also demonstrated collaboration between higher education and industry. ITK welcomes partnerships that create learning opportunities for students, particularly through engagement with industry professionals who can deepen their understanding of the professional world.

ITK’s Student Affairs team hopes the event will provide a platform for learning and discussion, offering students fresh insights into the energy sector. Students are expected to gain a clearer understanding of career opportunities, industry challenges, and the competencies they should develop during their university years.

These insights are expected to help students prepare more purposefully for their careers by strengthening both their academic knowledge and complementary skills. Understanding how their knowledge applies in practice can also broaden their perspectives on the roles they may pursue after graduation.

Through Upstream Youth Champs 2026, collaboration between ITK and industry is expected to create further opportunities for student development. The knowledge students acquire on campus can equip them to develop solutions and contribute to communities and Indonesia’s development.
