Balikpapan - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) will hold the SEMESTA IN-SAINTEK BINTANG Dissemination x SPECTA Exhibition III from 1–8 September 2026. Carrying the theme “Biomass for Sustainable Battery Innovation for Future Generations,” the event will serve as a platform for education, collaboration, and the dissemination of energy innovation, bringing together students, university communities, researchers, government institutions, industry, MSMEs, and the general public.

The program consists of three main activities: BINTANG School Road Show, BINTANG Discovery Day, and BINTANG Innovation Expo. Overall, the series is expected to engage approximately 1,600 participants while introducing the potential of biomass as a resource for sustainable battery and energy innovation.

BINTANG School Road Show to Visit Six Schools

The series will begin with the BINTANG School Road Show on 1–3 September 2026. The team will visit six schools in Balikpapan, consisting of three elementary schools and three junior high schools, with a target of around 600 students.

The road show will feature the topic “Future Batteries from Biomass Waste,” delivered through interactive science storytelling and educational activities. This approach is designed to make topics related to energy, batteries, and sustainability easier and more engaging for young learners.

On 1 September, the program will be held at SD Negeri 016 Balikpapan and SMP Negeri 17 Balikpapan. It will continue on 2 September at SD Negeri 026 Balikpapan and SD Negeri 012 Balikpapan, before concluding on 3 September at SMP Negeri 11 Balikpapan and SMP Negeri 15 Balikpapan.

Discovery Day to Engage 1,000 Participants and 11 Partnerships

The next major agenda, BINTANG Discovery Day, will take place on 8 September 2026 at ITK’s Integrated Laboratory Building I. The event will feature an eco-friendly battery assembly workshop and is expected to involve approximately 1,000 participants, including senior high school and vocational students, university students, youth communities, industry representatives, and the general public.

Discovery Day will also become a strategic moment to strengthen institutional networks through the planned signing of 11 MoUs and cooperation agreements. These collaborations are expected to reinforce partnerships among universities, government institutions, communities, and other stakeholders in advancing science, technology, and sustainable energy innovation.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Eng. Yunita Triana, M.Si., Head of the ITK Electrochemistry Research Center, with an opening speech by ITK Rector Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc.

Speakers from BRIDA East Kalimantan Province, Yayasan Mitra Hijau, and Bappedalitbang Paser Regency are also scheduled to participate, providing perspectives ranging from research and technology to policy and sustainable development implementation.

30 Energy Products and 15 Local MSMEs to Join the Innovation Expo

The excitement will continue through the BINTANG Innovation Expo x SPECTA Exhibition III on 8 September 2026 at the Integrated Laboratory Building I concourse, ITK.

The exhibition will showcase approximately 30 energy products, innovations from the ITK Technology Business Incubator, as well as 15 local MSMEs supported by the incubator. In addition to the exhibition, the event will feature a talk show, science challenge, quiz, and door prizes.

Through this exhibition, visitors will be able to see how research and technological innovation can be translated into practical products that are relevant to community needs while also creating economic value.

Bringing Science Closer to Society

The BINTANG Dissemination program is designed not only to deliver information, but also to actively involve participants in the learning process through experiments, workshops, exhibitions, and direct interaction with innovators.

Through these activities, ITK aims to strengthen public understanding that biomass waste can be transformed into valuable resources for energy innovation, including the development of sustainable batteries. The program also seeks to increase young people’s interest in science and technology while broadening public awareness of renewable energy innovation.

In the spirit of Diktisaintek Berdampak, the BINTANG Dissemination x SPECTA Exhibition III is expected to become a meeting point for education, research, innovation, collaboration, and community empowerment, while encouraging the emergence of a generation better prepared to face future energy challenges.

The full series will take place on 1–8 September 2026 and is open to participants. Registration information is available through s.itk.ac.id/bintang2026.
