Balikpapan - Dandy Saputra, an Electrical Engineering alumnus from the class of 2018, is currently working as a Supervisor of Site Readiness (WO/WI/WS) at PT Pertamina Hulu Energi. In this strategic role, Dandy is responsible for ensuring the readiness of well sites before Workover (WO), Well Intervention (WI), and Well Service (WS) operations are carried out. This responsibility represents a crucial phase in the upstream oil and gas operational chain, as it determines the smooth mobilization of rigs, workplace safety (HSSE), and the efficiency of operational time and costs.

As a Site Readiness Supervisor, Dandy conducts comprehensive analyses of wellpad readiness, access roads to well locations, and the condition of supporting infrastructure. He coordinates across functions with the Infrastructure Maintenance, Operations, and Drilling & Well Intervention teams to ensure that all technical and operational aspects are fulfilled before the rig enters the site. His responsibilities include verifying the completeness of surface facilities, planning and optimizing rig layouts, issuing well work order assessments, arranging cable elevation to facilitate rig movement, and strengthening governance through toolbox meetings and daily coordination meetings. Through an analytical approach and proactive planning, he contributes to accelerating oil production recovery, reducing Non-Productive Time (NPT), and supporting the company’s production targets effectively.

Dandy’s journey into the national energy industry was not instantaneous. During his time studying Electrical Engineering, he actively participated in internships and student organizations. Through these experiences, he realized that the professional world requires not only technical expertise but also strong communication skills, leadership, and the ability to solve problems under time pressure. After graduating, he began his career as a freelance electrical technician and later progressed through several roles, including Junior Electrical & Control Engineer, Junior Engineer, and Electrical Engineer in the coal mining industry. Each stage became a learning process that strengthened both his technical and managerial competencies.

Since 2024, Dandy had been applying to Pertamina and understood that the recruitment process was highly competitive and challenging. Instead of giving up, he chose to focus on improving his capabilities and consistently delivering his best performance at work. His persistence finally paid off when, in June 2025, he officially joined through the Sarjana Professional Mentoring Program (Program Bimbingan Profesi Sarjana). This moment became one of the most proud milestones in his career—a testament that perseverance, consistency, and patience always yield results.

For Dandy, the professional world is about readiness and integrity. The theories learned in university serve as a foundation, but the ability to execute in real field conditions is the true key to success. He encourages students not only to pursue academic grades but also to build a strong mindset, disciplined character, adaptability, and teamwork skills. Ultimately, professional success is not determined by who is the smartest, but by who is the most prepared to face challenges and continuously grow with every opportunity.
