BALIKPAPAN — Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), through its Naval Architecture Study Program, once again organized the ETAM Ship Competition (ESC) 2026, an annual national competition that provides a platform for students to develop innovation, creativity, and technical skills in maritime and shipbuilding technology.

The ESC 2026 series was held from September 29 to October 3, 2026, at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan. The event was officially opened on Monday, September 29, 2026, and was attended by 12 teams from various universities across Indonesia.

The ETAM Ship Competition reflects ITK’s commitment to providing a competitive platform that goes beyond achievement. It also brings together young talents from different regions to exchange ideas, test innovations, and expand their networks in the field of maritime technology.

One of the main competitions was the Ship Prototype Electric Competition, which challenged participants to design and develop electric-powered ship prototypes. The competition required a combination of design accuracy, vessel performance, efficiency, and the participants’ ability to apply naval engineering principles.

In this category, Hasanuddin University won 1st Place, followed by Lambung Mangkurat University in 2nd Place, and Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka in 3rd Place. Hasanuddin University also received the Best Design award for its ship prototype design presented during the competition.

In addition to the ship prototype competition, ESC 2026 also featured an Infographic Competition, providing participants with a platform to communicate maritime ideas and knowledge through visual communication.

In the university student category of the Infographic Competition, Institut Teknologi Kalimantan won 1st Place and 3rd Place, while Hasanuddin University secured 2nd Place. In the high school student category, SMAN 1 Sangatta Selatan won 1st Place.

These achievements demonstrate that the ETAM Ship Competition is not only a platform for developing engineering competencies, but also encourages participants to communicate ideas and innovations creatively to a wider audience.
