Balikpapan — The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) New Student Admissions (PMB) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year once again demonstrates that the Faculty of Science and Information Technology (FSTI) remains one of the most popular faculties on campus. Through three admission pathways: SNBP, SNBT, and SUMMIT, nearly all study programs at FSTI experienced an increase in the number of applicants. This increasingly fierce competition reflects prospective students' confidence in FSTI as the right choice for pursuing careers in science, information technology, and the digital world. This trend also demonstrates that FSTI's vision of becoming a center of academic excellence and innovation by 2029 is gaining increasing support from the community.

In the Science and Data Analytics cluster, the four study programs Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science showed excellent progress. Statistics was one of the most popular study programs, with 62 applicants for SNBP and 49 for SNBT. Actuarial Science also continues to attract attention, particularly in the SNBT pathway, with 75 applicants, indicating the growing industry demand for actuarial professionals. Meanwhile, Physics and Mathematics remained stable, with applicant numbers meeting quotas, demonstrating their continued relevance and demand.

The technology and digital cluster also remains a favorite among prospective students. The Electrical Engineering, Informatics, and Digital Business departments recorded high enrollment across all pathways. Electrical Engineering attracted 199 applicants for the SNBP pathway and 276 applicants for the SNBT pathway, indicating strong interest in the electrical and automation fields. Information Systems and Informatics were also popular, garnering over 250 applicants for the SNBP pathway and 350 applicants for the SNBT pathway, respectively. Digital Business also enjoyed increasing interest, with 279 applicants for the SNBP pathway and 332 applicants for the SNBT pathway, reflecting the growing enthusiasm of the younger generation for the digital economy and startup world. This high number of applicants aligns with FSTI's commitment to creating an innovative and collaborative learning environment.

In addition to the high number of applicants, the stable re-enrollment rate across all pathways is also a positive sign. This demonstrates that accepted students are confident in the quality of education, learning facilities, and research and industry collaboration opportunities offered by FSTI. This confidence further strengthens FSTI's position as a faculty ready to produce competitive graduates in the technological and digital era.

Overall, this year's PMB results are clear evidence that FSTI continues to progress toward its 2029 vision of becoming a center of academic excellence and innovation in Kalimantan and Indonesia. With the support of good governance, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the commitment of its academic community, FSTI is increasingly prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
