Balikpapan, October 27, 2025 — The Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) held the Evaluation of SNPMB ITK 2025 and Appreciation for Partner Schools event at Hotel Platinum Balikpapan. The event was attended by ITK leadership, representatives from the East Kalimantan Provincial Education Office, principals of senior high schools and vocational schools across Balikpapan, as well as partners from the UTBK implementation team.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., Rector of ITK, and Prof. Erma Suryani, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs. In their remarks, the ITK leadership emphasized the importance of synergy between universities and secondary schools to ensure a transparent, inclusive, and quality-oriented national student admission process.
During the presentation session, ITK reported the results of the 2025 student admission evaluation, which consisted of three main pathways: SNBP (National Selection Based on Achievement) with a quota of 38% or 834 students, SNBT (National Selection Based on Test) with 53% or 1,171 students, and SUMMIT (ITK Independent Selection) with 10% or 215 students. Study programs with the highest competitiveness this year included Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Informatics, and Digital Business. The high level of interest in these programs reflects ITK’s strong alignment with industry needs and the regional development direction of East Kalimantan.
As a form of appreciation for strong collaboration with partner schools, ITK awarded certificates of recognition to the ten schools with the highest number of students admitted to ITK in 2025. These schools are SMKN 1 Balikpapan, SMAN 5 Balikpapan Selatan, SMAN 6 Balikpapan Utara, SMAN 2 Balikpapan Utara, SMKN 6 Balikpapan, SMKS Kartika V-1 Balikpapan, SMAN 7 Balikpapan, SMAN 1 Balikpapan, SMAN 9 Balikpapan, and SMKN 2 Balikpapan. This recognition aims to strengthen the partnership between ITK and senior secondary schools across East Kalimantan in preparing prospective students who are accomplished, adaptable, and globally competitive.
On the same occasion, ITK also presented its policy direction toward SNPMB 2026. One of the major initiatives currently underway is the proposal for five new study programs, designed to address the growing demand for human resources in technology, biomedical engineering, and maritime industries. The proposed programs include Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Marine Transportation Engineering. These programs are expected to strengthen ITK’s contribution to regional development, particularly in supporting East Kalimantan’s role as the main buffer area for the future capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).
The SNPMB ITK 2025 Evaluation concluded with a collaborative session to formulate recommendations and follow-up plans. The outcomes of this event will serve as a foundation for ITK in preparing a more adaptive and quality-driven student admission process for SNPMB 2026. With the spirit of “Growing, Impactful, and Competitive,” ITK remains committed to strengthening higher education governance and contributing to the advancement of East Kalimantan and the Indonesian nation.
