Balikpapan - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) officially announced three rector candidates for the 2026–2030 term following a closed Senate session held on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The selection took place after the prospective candidates presented their visions, missions, and proposed programs during an open Senate session.

Based on the results of the ITK Senate session, the three rector candidates are:

1. Prof. Dr. Ir. Agung Purniawan, S.T., M.Eng.
2. Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Fredy Kurniawan, S.Si., M.Si.
3. Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Abadi, S.T., M.T.

All three candidates are from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). They will proceed to the next stage of the ITK rector election process in accordance with applicable regulations.
