The faculty and students of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) conducted a study titled “Temporary Coastal Line Study in the Coastal Area of IKN as Preparation for Infrastructure Development.” The activity took place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, involving collaboration between three faculty members and two students.

The research team was led by Muhammad Khaisar Wirawan, S.Kel., M.Sc., a faculty member in ITK's Marine Engineering Department. The team included Ir. Anggoronadhi Dianiswara, S.T., M.T., IPM., MRINA, and Luh Putri Adnyani, S.T., M.T., MRINA. Additionally, two Marine Engineering students from the 2019 cohort, Chrisnanda Aditya Fortuna and Rizky Fadli, actively contributed to the research.

This research produced a coastal line map and a bathymetric map of the IKN coastal area. The findings are expected to serve as critical references for the government in planning infrastructure development in coastal regions. Furthermore, the results can be utilized for disaster mitigation, addressing potential accretion and erosion issues, and serving as initial data for planning jetty and port construction in the coastal areas of IKN.

Muhammad Khaisar Wirawan stated that the research aims to understand coastal line changes over the past decade. The resulting data will indicate areas experiencing accretion (land addition) or erosion (land reduction). This information serves as a strategic reference for the government to formulate necessary mitigation measures to tackle natural challenges while ensuring smooth infrastructure development.

Through this research, ITK once again demonstrates its contribution to supporting national development programs, particularly in the Nusantara Capital (IKN). This initiative not only strengthens ITK's role in the field of research but also provides tangible impacts on sustainable infrastructure planning.
