Balikpapan, June 21, 2025 – The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) recently inaugurated its Integrated Laboratory Building 2 in a solemn ceremony. The inauguration was directly attended by the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, accompanied by ITK Rector Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc, and other high-ranking ITK officials. Also present were representatives from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and Regional Government Organizations (OPD) of East Kalimantan Province, as well as representatives from the Balikpapan City Government, marking a significant moment for the advancement of education and research in the region.
The construction of the Integrated Laboratory Building 2 underscores ITK's commitment to strengthening the infrastructure supporting academic activities, research, and community service. This new facility is expected to boost the quality of research and innovation from ITK's academic community, enabling them to make concrete contributions to both regional and national development.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, praised ITK's initiative in developing educational facilities. Before the main event, he was presented with works by ITK students, which greatly impressed him given the young age of the institution. He emphasized the vital role of laboratories as centers of innovation, where new ideas are developed into concrete solutions. "Investing in this laboratory is a strategic step for the nation's future, especially in facing the dynamics of the Industry 4.0 era," stated Prof. Fauzan.
Echoing the Vice Minister, ITK Rector Prof. Agus Rubiyanto expressed gratitude for the support from various parties that made the realization of the Integrated Laboratory Building 2 possible. "This laboratory is designed as a center of excellence for multidisciplinary research, facilitating collaboration among study programs, and serving as a platform for students and lecturers to produce innovative works," explained Prof. Agus. He added that the modern facilities available will support the development of knowledge in various fields, from engineering and basic sciences to information technology.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with the signing of a commemorative plaque by Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Fauzan, followed by a direct tour of the Integrated Laboratory Building 2's facilities. Guests showed high enthusiasm when viewing the various advanced equipment and modern laboratory design, which are expected to create an optimal learning and research environment.
With the inauguration of the Integrated Laboratory Building 2, ITK further strengthens its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in Kalimantan, ready to produce competitive generations and actively contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia.
