Balikpapan - The Rector of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., attended the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Sharing Info, and Intimate Meeting themed “Strategies for Improving the Quality and Competitiveness of Higher Education in Indonesia” held at Universitas Balikpapan (UNIBA) on Wednesday (May 6, 2026).
The event featured Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Ir. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., and Chair of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dr. Ir. Hetifah Sjaifudian, as keynote speakers. The forum was also attended by leaders of universities affiliated with the Kalimantan University Consortium (KUC).
Held at the Putri Aji Karang Melenu Ballroom, 8th Floor of Building G, Universitas Balikpapan, the event served as a strategic discussion platform focusing on strengthening higher education quality, enhancing global competitiveness, innovation, and digital transformation within Indonesian universities.
The presence of the ITK Rector in this forum reflects ITK’s commitment to strengthening collaboration among higher education institutions while continuously improving academic quality and developing human resources that are adaptive to future challenges.
Beyond serving as an academic networking forum, the event was also expected to strengthen synergy among universities in Kalimantan in supporting impactful and competitive higher education transformation, particularly in responding to the development of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN) and future industrial demands.
