BALIKPAPAN — Achievement is not merely about trophies or championship titles. It is also about creating ideas that provide meaningful benefits to society. This spirit was demonstrated by Putri Nabila Safitri, a 2025 student of the Information Systems Study Program at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), through her digital innovation titled ARUNGI LENTERA. At the 2026 Young Ambassador Championship for Love, Pride, and Understanding of the Rupiah (CBP Rupiah), organized by Bank Indonesia’s Balikpapan Representative Office, Putri received the Favorite Winner and First Honorable Mention awards. Behind this achievement, Putri presented an idea inspired by a simple yet significant issue: many people still recognize the Rupiah merely as a means of payment. In fact, the Rupiah also holds a strategic role as a symbol of national identity, sovereignty, and unity.

Rupiah Literacy in One Digital Ecosystem

To address this challenge, Putri developed ARUNGI LENTERA, an acronym derived from Literasi Nusantara tentang Rupiah, or Nusantara Literacy on the Rupiah. The innovation was designed as a digital educational platform integrating three learning media—an educational website, an interactive game, and a digital e-book—into a single dashboard. Through the educational website, users can learn about the history and functions of the Rupiah, identify the security features of genuine banknotes through the 3D method (Dilihat, Diraba, dan Diterawang) or Look, Feel, and Hold Up to the Light—and explore the cultural elements, flora, fauna, and national figures featured on Indonesian banknotes.

The materials are not only presented as text but are also delivered through infographics, illustrations, videos, and animations. This approach makes Rupiah-related education easier to understand, particularly for young people who are accustomed to using digital media.

Meanwhile, the educational game within ARUNGI LENTERA features quizzes and challenges that help users recognize the security features of genuine Rupiah banknotes. Rather than simply reading the materials, users can actively participate in a more engaging and enjoyable learning process. The digital e-book provides more comprehensive learning materials. It can be used independently or as a supporting resource for educational activities in schools, universities, communities, and various other social settings.

Expanding Access to CBP Rupiah Education

One of the key impacts that ARUNGI LENTERA aims to create is broader access to CBP Rupiah education. As a digital platform, its learning materials can be accessed anytime and are not limited to face-to-face outreach activities. The “one dashboard, three innovations” concept also provides users with a more integrated learning experience. Through a single platform, users can access learning materials, play educational games, complete assessments, monitor their learning progress, and receive digital certificates.

With this system, ARUNGI LENTERA has the potential to serve as a supporting educational platform for Bank Indonesia, schools, universities, teachers, students, communities, and education volunteers in consistently communicating the values of loving, taking pride in, and understanding the Rupiah. More importantly, the innovation is expected to encourage young people not only to understand how to use the Rupiah but also to protect, care for, and recognize it as an essential part of Indonesia’s national identity.

From Users to Education Agents

Putri believes that young people play an important role in expanding Rupiah literacy throughout society. By utilizing digital media that is closely connected to everyday life, information about the Rupiah can be communicated in a more relevant and accessible manner.

“I want to contribute as an agent of change in improving literacy about loving, taking pride in, and understanding the Rupiah among young people and the wider community,” Putri said.

Her participation in the CBP Rupiah Young Ambassador program also provided an opportunity to deepen her understanding of Bank Indonesia’s policies, financial literacy, and the responsibilities of an ambassador as an educator. Before entering the selection process, Putri prepared herself by studying CBP Rupiah materials, developing an innovative concept, practicing her presentation skills, and preparing for the question-and-answer session. Through ARUNGI LENTERA, Putri has demonstrated how university students can contribute to addressing literacy challenges by applying their academic competencies and utilizing technology. The innovation is not merely a project created for a competition, but an idea that can continue to be developed to generate sustainable impact.

Putri’s achievement proves that the courage to take action, the awareness to recognize problems, and the determination to provide solutions can result in meaningful and beneficial innovations. Through one digital dashboard, she carries a greater mission: to build an Indonesian generation that increasingly Loves, Takes Pride in, and Understands the Rupiah.
