On February 18, 2025, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan held a socialization event focused on the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB), attended by the Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), along with other academic staff. This event aimed to raise awareness and knowledge on the importance of preventing and managing these two diseases that significantly impact public health.
The event began with an opening speech by Dr. Khairunnisa, a representative of the Junior Officer II Service Medical. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry, academia, and society in educating and preventing the spread of these diseases. "Events like this are crucial in enhancing our understanding and addressing the global health challenges we face," said Dr. Khairunnisa in her speech.
The socialization continued with the main session, led by Dr. Bintang Warastuti, who delivered a relaxed and interactive presentation. Dr. Bintang provided detailed information about Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS, covering their symptoms, risk factors, as well as prevention and treatment methods. Participants were given valuable insights into the early signs of both diseases and the steps that can be taken to prevent transmission. Dr. Bintang emphasized the importance of early detection and the active role each individual plays in maintaining their own health and that of others.
The event also provided an opportunity for participants to engage in discussions and ask questions related to TB and HIV/AIDS. Many ITK students showed great enthusiasm in asking about prevention methods and how to reduce the stigma surrounding people living with HIV/AIDS and TB, highlighting the relevance and importance of the topic for young people.
The event concluded with a post-test to assess participants' understanding of the material presented. The post-test also served as an important evaluation tool for improving future health education activities. Participants were eager to complete the questions, demonstrating a high level of interest and comprehension of the topics covered in the socialization.
This event is expected to have a positive impact in fostering a more aware and proactive society in addressing public health issues such as HIV/AIDS and TB, while also strengthening the collaboration between education, industry, and the community in disease prevention efforts.
Institute of Technology Kalimantan (ITK) held an important event aimed at providing deeper insight into the Bank Indonesia (BI) Scholarship as well as introducing the concepts of central banking and rupiah management to students.
