Balikpapan – Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) will begin the academic preparation process for its 2026 undergraduate new students through a series of activities, including pre-tests, matriculation, and the Internal Academic English Test (IAET). These activities are prepared as an initial step to help new students adapt to the academic environment of higher education.
Through Announcement Number 18962/IT10/AK.08/2026, ITK stated that matriculation activities will be provided to new students as a form of basic academic reinforcement before entering regular lectures. The program consists of Basic Mathematics Matriculation and Basic Chemistry Matriculation.
Basic Mathematics Matriculation is mandatory for all ITK new students, except for students from the Information Systems, Digital Business, and Visual Communication Design study programs. For students admitted through the SNBP and SNBT pathways, the activity will begin with a pre-test through ITK’s Learning Management System, or LMS. The LMS page can be accessed starting Friday, July 10, 2026, while the pre-test will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Basic Mathematics Matriculation for SNBP and SNBT students will take place on July 13–17, 2026, online through Zoom or Google Meet. Meanwhile, for students admitted through the SUMMIT pathway, the pre-test is scheduled for July 30, 2026, and the matriculation will be held on August 10–14, 2026, in an offline format.
In addition to Basic Mathematics, ITK will also hold Basic Chemistry Matriculation for new students from several study programs, namely Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Safety Engineering. This activity will be conducted on August 18–21, 2026, offline.
Besides matriculation, all ITK new students are also required to take the English Proficiency Test, or IAET. This test aims to assess students’ initial English proficiency as part of their preparation for academic activities at ITK.
The IAET will be held offline at ITK Campus from July 20 to 29, 2026. The test will take place in the computer laboratories of the Integrated Laboratory Building 1, specifically Computer Labs A, B, and C on the 3rd floor. The individual test schedule for each participant will be announced later.
New students taking the IAET are required to bring a valid identity card, such as an ID card or driver’s license. The test guidelines can be accessed through s.itk.ac.id/panduaniaet.
Through these activities, ITK hopes that new students will be better prepared to begin their university journey, both in terms of basic academic skills and English readiness. The matriculation program and IAET are part of ITK’s commitment to supporting students’ transition into higher education so they can take part in the learning process more optimally.
New students who need further information regarding matriculation may contact the respective faculty contact persons. Information related to IAET can also be obtained via email at akademik@itk.ac.id or through ITK’s WhatsApp Hotline at 08115390801.
