Balikpapan – Students of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) have once again achieved a proud accomplishment in the non-academic field. This time, the ITK student volleyball team secured Second Place at the Open Volleyball Tournament of the 11th Anniversary of KBMKMU, organized by the Mahakam Ulu Regency Student Association (KBMKMU).
The tournament was held on November 22–23, 2025, at AVBC Court, Taman Cerdas, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and was participated in by various teams from universities and communities across East Kalimantan. The intense competition highlighted this achievement as clear evidence that ITK students possess strong competitiveness not only in academics but also in sports.
The ITK volleyball team was led by Yuan Sedayu Setoaji (09231079 – Naval Architecture Engineering, Class of 2023) as the team captain. He was joined by team members from diverse academic backgrounds, namely:
This cross-disciplinary collaboration became the team’s main strength in building cohesion and developing effective game strategies. Despite relatively simple preparations—consisting of one joint training session and one friendly match the team’s fighting spirit, sportsmanship, and teamwork successfully carried ITK students through to the final round, securing a position among the top two teams.
Participation in this tournament aimed to develop students’ potential while demonstrating that ITK has athletic talents capable of competing at the regional level. This achievement is also part of the effort to enhance the university’s reputation in non-academic inter-university competitions.
“The event was very exciting and full of togetherness. Hopefully, in the future, ITK can continue to participate in various sports events, keep striving for achievements, and become increasingly recognized as a competitive and excellent university,” said Yuan Sedayu Setoaji.
This Second Place achievement is expected to motivate other ITK students to actively develop their interests and talents beyond academics. At ITK, excellence is not only forged in classrooms but also through hard work, teamwork, and fighting spirit on the field.
