Balikpapan - A student of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the Balikpapan city level. Nadya Azwarelda Haryanto, a 2023 Actuarial Science student, successfully earned the title of 1st Runner-Up Putri Duta Wisata Manuntung Balikpapan 2026 in the Pemilihan Duta Wisata Manuntung Kota Balikpapan 2026, organized by the Balikpapan City Department of Tourism, Youth, and Sports.

The event was held in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, from March 8 to April 18, 2026. This competition served as a platform for young people to develop their potential, broaden their understanding of local tourism, and take part in promoting Balikpapan’s tourism appeal to the wider public.

Nadya joined the competition with the motivation to improve her personal capacity and create a positive impact on her surroundings. For her, the Duta Wisata Manuntung program was an opportunity to learn more about Balikpapan’s tourism potential, build self-confidence, and sharpen her public communication skills.

During the preparation process, Nadya made a serious effort in various areas. She studied and conducted research on tourist destinations in Balikpapan, maintained her physical and mental readiness through regular exercise, and practiced public speaking, grooming, and styling. She also built connections with fellow finalists and committee members as part of her self-development journey throughout the program.

This achievement shows that ITK students are not only active academically, but are also capable of excelling in non-academic fields, particularly in tourism development, youth empowerment, and regional representation. Nadya’s accomplishment proves that ITK students have broad opportunities to grow, contribute, and bring pride to the campus in various fields.

Nadya hopes that this achievement can encourage other ITK students to continue developing themselves and to be brave in taking new opportunities. “I hope fellow students can reach their dreams and goals as high as possible. Let us support one another and continue improving ourselves as best as we can,” she said.
