The educational visit from SMAN 13 Samarinda to the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) was filled with enthusiasm and became a valuable experience for students who are preparing to choose their future fields of study. The activity began with a warm welcome from Nurhidayatur Rozikin, followed by a campus introduction session delivered by Saputro Dewo. In this session, the students received comprehensive information about ITK’s academic programs, official website, and various opportunities and facilities available to students.
The atmosphere grew even livelier during the question-and-answer session led by Rozikin. One student asked a compelling question about choosing a university major: whether it is better to pursue a less popular major at a prestigious university or select a strong, reputable major at a lesser-known campus. The question was answered with an inspiring message from Rozikin, who emphasized that one should not be proud solely of their campus name, but instead strive to elevate the campus’s reputation through personal achievements. This message became a meaningful point that offered the students a new perspective on academic success.
The event continued with the presentation of a souvenir from the Vice Principal for Student Affairs as a gesture of appreciation and collaboration between the two institutions. Before entering the laboratories, the students participated in a safety induction session to ensure that the tour would run safely and smoothly.
The most anticipated session was the laboratory tour at LabTer 1 ITK. The students were guided through the third floor down to the first floor, visiting various laboratories such as the Computer Lab, Basic Physics Lab, Basic Chemistry Lab, Characterization Lab, Environmental Lab, Process Technology Lab, Engineering Workshop, and Civil Engineering Lab. Each laboratory offered hands-on experiences with instruments, experiments, and ongoing research. Many students expressed that the visit broadened their understanding of the fields of engineering, science, and research opportunities in higher education.
The visit from SMAN 13 Samarinda to ITK concluded smoothly and left a lasting impression. The students not only gained new knowledge but also motivation and a clearer picture of their future educational pathways. ITK hopes that activities like this will continue to serve as an inspiring bridge for younger generations as they navigate their academic and career decisions.
