Balikpapan - The Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) successfully held its annual ITK Open House 2026 on February 14–15, 2026, an educational event designed to introduce campus life directly to students, teachers, parents, and the wider community. The event was lively and interactive, providing a real insight into academic life at a technology-focused university.
With the theme “Explore the Next Dimension – GATE: Gateway to Educational Direction”, the Open House served as a platform for prospective students to explore higher education options in depth. From registration to the opening session, participants showed high enthusiasm, reflecting their interest in learning more about the campus environment, study programs, and future opportunities offered by ITK.
The opening ceremony began with participant registration, followed by the national anthem and a student art performance showcasing the creativity of the academic community. In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc. emphasized the importance of young people becoming agents of change who excel academically, demonstrate social leadership, and contribute culturally to national progress. He highlighted that the Open House serves as an information bridge, helping participants make informed decisions about their education, as choosing a university is choosing one’s future.
A key highlight of the Open House was the Study Program (Prodi) Expo, featuring department booths, student units, and local MSMEs. Each department showcased innovations, research projects, and technology demonstrations through interactive presentations, simple experiment simulations, and direct discussions with lecturers and students. This interaction helped prospective students understand the characteristics of each study program, career prospects, and the academic experience they can expect.
The expo atmosphere came alive with attractive booth designs, hands-on activities, and multimedia presentations. The presence of MSME booths added warmth to the event, reflecting ITK’s support for the local entrepreneurship ecosystem. Active participation by students as the main facilitators provided an engaging learning experience while reinforcing the impression that the campus is a space for collaboration and innovation.
