The prestigious competition was organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and supported by leading national insurance companies, including PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama, PT Jasa Raharja, and other industry partners. The final round of the competition was held onsite in Yogyakarta on November 29, 2025, and brought together top teams from renowned universities at both national and international levels.
The International Actuarial Case Competition challenged participants to solve real-world problems in insurance and financial risk management through comprehensive actuarial approaches. Under the guidance of Eli Zulkatri, the ITK team demonstrated strong capabilities in data-driven analysis, risk modeling, and strategic decision-making, aligning their solutions with current industry needs.
As a result of their outstanding performance, the ITK Actuarial Science team achieved Runner-Up 2, which corresponds to 5th Place (Honorable Mention) in the international classification.
This achievement provided a valuable learning experience for the students, enhancing their academic competence, teamwork, and professional readiness in an international competitive environment.
“We feel proud and honored to represent Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, particularly our Actuarial Science Study Program, in this international competition. This experience marked an important milestone for us to grow as individuals and as a team, to strive for excellence, and to continuously improve. Although the result did not fully meet our expectations, we are deeply grateful for how far we have come,” the team shared.
The team also expressed their sincere appreciation to all parties who supported them throughout the selection process and final stage.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone involved, especially our academic supervisor Eli Zulkatri, as well as the entire ITK academic community for their continuous guidance and encouragement from the initial selection until the final round in Yogyakarta.”
This achievement highlights the importance of strong academic mentorship and a supportive institutional ecosystem in fostering globally competitive students. It aligns with the spirit of Impact-Oriented Higher Education (Diktisaintek Berdampak), which emphasizes the development of highly skilled graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to the insurance and financial risk sectors through data-driven and analytical expertise.
This accomplishment is a source of pride for the Actuarial Science Study Program, Faculty, and Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, and is expected to inspire other students to actively pursue international competitions and global academic opportunities.
