Balikpapan - Ibnu Dwiki Hermawan, a student from the 2024 cohort of the Informatics Study Program at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), secured a top-six finish in the Country to Country (C2C) Cyber Security Challenge 2026. Organized by INCS-CoE in collaboration with Universitas Indonesia, the competition took place on August 11–13, 2026, in Legian, Badung Regency, Bali.
Ibnu participated under the guidance of lecturer Nur Fajri Azhar. Finishing sixth provided a valuable opportunity to sharpen his cybersecurity skills and assess his progress through competition.
His participation began with a simple desire to try something new. That curiosity encouraged him to prepare for an event that challenged him to tackle a range of cybersecurity problems.
To prepare, Ibnu practiced on platforms such as Hack The Box (HTB). These exercises helped him develop his technical skills and become familiar with solving challenges before the competition. His preparation and mentoring ran from February to August 2026.
His experience shows how a willingness to try can be the first step toward achievement. Competitions also give students opportunities to broaden their learning experiences and identify skills they need to develop further.
Ibnu hopes his achievement will encourage other ITK students to enter competitions and pursue their interests.
“I hope this can motivate others,” he said.
Ibnu’s achievement adds to ITK students’ accomplishments in information technology, particularly cybersecurity. His willingness to take on a challenge and prepare for it offers encouragement for fellow students to test their abilities through competitions.
