Balikpapan -  The selection of study programs within the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway requires considerations that extend beyond academic interest, including an analysis of the ratio between applicants and available capacity. This comparison provides an overview of competition levels across study programs and may serve as a reference for developing rational and data-driven selection strategies. Based on data from the 2025/2026 academic year, the following presents nine study programs with relatively higher admission opportunities. 

Ranking of Study Programs Based on Admission Opportunity

Mathematics
 Admission capacity: 80 seats, applicants: 22, admitted: 15 (±68%).
 The relatively low level of competition indicates a high admission opportunity. This field serves as a foundation for data analysis, computation, and scientific modeling.

Physics
 Admission capacity: 100 seats, applicants: 15, admitted: 10 (±67%).
 This program forms the basis for technological development in energy, materials, and scientific instrumentation.

Visual Communication Design
 Admission capacity: 100 seats, applicants: 76, admitted: 50 (±66%).
 Contributes to the digital creative industry, visual communication, and media design sectors.

Statistics
 Admission capacity: 80 seats, applicants: 62, admitted: 40 (±65%).
 Statistical competencies support data analysis and evidence-based decision-making.

Naval Architecture (Shipbuilding Engineering)
 Admission capacity: 100 seats, applicants: 84, admitted: 45 (±54%).
 Relevant to maritime industry development and ship construction engineering.

Logistics Engineering
 Admission capacity: 100 seats, applicants: 91, admitted: 40 (±44%).
 Focuses on supply chain management and modern industrial distribution systems.

Ocean Engineering
 Admission capacity: 80 seats, applicants: 97, admitted: 40 (±41%).
 Related to marine infrastructure development and resource exploration.

Actuarial Science
 Admission capacity: 80 seats, applicants: 66, admitted: 27 (±41%).
 Develops competencies in financial risk analysis and insurance industries.

Chemical Engineering
 Admission capacity: 120 seats, applicants: 156, admitted: 55 (±35%).
 Plays a role in process industries, energy, materials, and environmental technology.

 The analysis of applicant-to-capacity ratios demonstrates variations in competition levels among study programs. Such information may serve as an additional consideration in planning study program selection in an objective and data-informed manner, while still prioritizing alignment with students’ interests, academic capabilities, and long-term career development.
