Balikpapan - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) welcomed a visit from the East Kalimantan Provincial Information Commission (KI Kaltim) as part of a coordination meeting and socialization of the 2026 Public Body Compliance Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) program on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Room A1, Building A, ITK Campus.
The activity served as part of the preparation for the 2026 Public Body Monitoring and Evaluation program while also strengthening understanding of the importance of public information disclosure within higher education institutions. The meeting was attended by representatives of KI Kaltim and ITK officials, including ITK Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs Ir. Khakim Ghozali, M.MT.
During the meeting, KI Kaltim emphasized that the monitoring and evaluation process is not merely a competition or ranking exercise. Rather, it serves as an instrument to assess how well public bodies fulfill their obligations to provide information that is open, easily accessible, responsive, and accountable to the public.
The 2026 monitoring and evaluation program also provides broader opportunities for higher education institutions, as public bodies, to participate. Through this process, each institution is expected to strengthen its understanding of public information service standards while evaluating its information systems, documentation, and service mechanisms.
The visit also provided an opportunity to share practices related to public information management. During the discussion, ITK was recognized as one of the public universities that has been responsive in following up on information requirements and the monitoring and evaluation process, including administrative compliance and communication with the Information Commission.
ITK’s achievement in previous years as a public body categorized as “Informative” also became part of the discussion. This achievement is expected to be maintained and further strengthened, not merely to fulfill monitoring indicators, but to ensure that public information services provide tangible benefits to the community.
For ITK, public information disclosure is an important part of transparent and accountable university governance. Information related to programs, services, policies, budget management, and institutional activities needs to be communicated through accessible channels so that the public can remain informed and participate in overseeing public services.
Through this visit and socialization activity, ITK continues to strengthen its commitment to providing public information services that are increasingly transparent, responsive, and inclusive, while maintaining public trust in higher education institutions as public bodies.
Public information disclosure is not merely about meeting evaluation indicators, but about ensuring that the public can exercise its right to access information in a timely, accurate, and accessible manner.
