Jakarta - A proud achievement has once again been recorded by a student of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK). Nadya Azwarelda Haryanto, a student of the JSAD Department, Class of 2023, has successfully earned the title of Best National Presenter in the Actuarial Modeling Competition organized by BPJS Kesehatan.
This national level competition serves as a strategic platform for actuarial students to propose modeling ideas based on real world challenges within Indonesia’s national health insurance system. In this event, Nadya was granted the valuable opportunity to present her actuarial proposal directly and receive feedback from key stakeholders, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Deputy for Actuarial Affairs of the Ministry of Finance, and the National Social Security Council (DJSN). The entire series of activities was also broadcast live via the official BPJS Kesehatan YouTube channel, highlighting the transparency and broad impact of this scientific forum.
Nadya’s success was strongly supported by solid academic mentorship. She was supervised by Mr. Eli Zulkatri, M.Aktr, a lecturer at ITK who played an active role in guiding the analytical framework, modeling structure, and effective scientific communication strategies. This collaboration between student and lecturer reflects an adaptive and applied higher education ecosystem that aligns closely with public policy needs.
In her reflections, Nadya expressed her appreciation to BPJS Kesehatan for organizing a competition that was not only competitive but also educational and impactful. According to her, the opportunity to engage directly with regulators and policymakers was a highly valuable experience that broadened her understanding of the role of actuarial science in national strategic decision making.
This achievement also serves as tangible evidence of ITK’s commitment particularly through the Faculty of Science and Information Technology, the JSAD Department, and the Actuarial Science Study Program to encouraging students to contribute to national issues through applied research and scientific innovation. Such accomplishments are in line with the spirit of “Diktisaintek Berdampak”, where higher education not only produces excellent graduates but also delivers science based solutions that are relevant and beneficial to society and the nation.
Looking ahead, this achievement is expected to inspire the entire ITK academic community to continue innovating, strengthening the role of actuarial science, and actively contributing to the development of Indonesia’s social security system and sustainable public policies.
