Transforming Learning Spaces in the Digital Era

The Community e-Learning Center (CLC) in Manggar, East Balikpapan, was developed based on a study conducted by Tiara Rukmaya Dewi, Sherlia, Yun Tonce Kusuma Priyanto, and Hermawan Juliansyah, presenting a modern learning facility that serves as a classroom, podcast studio, workshop room, and digital creativity hub.

Need for ICT-Based Learning Facilities

In their research, the team identified the Covid-19 pandemic as a major driver of changing learning patterns. SKB Manggar requires improved facilities to support ICT-based learning, family collaboration, and the development of students’ interests and talents.

Challenges of the Existing Facility and Development Opportunities

The study highlighted that the previous SKB Manggar building was inadequate for digital-based activities. Transforming it into the CLC opens opportunities for multifunctional classrooms, creative studios, and workshops that support inclusive digital learning.

Direct Benefits for the Manggar Community

According to the researchers’ findings, the CLC provides tangible benefits: digital content training for residents, e-learning guidance for parents, and creative workshops for children. Its eco-friendly design and book-inspired façade emphasize its role as a symbol of educational innovation in East Balikpapan.
