Balikpapan – On the second day of the 2026 Institute Introduction and Student Ethics Program (SPIn-ETAM), Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) held the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Festival on Tuesday (August 4). Hosted at the Integrated Laboratory Building (Labter) 1, Floors 1 and 3, the event provided freshmen with an opportunity to explore student life by learning about the various organizations active on campus.

A total of 28 Student Activity Units (UKMs) participated in the festival, each showcasing different areas of interest, including arts and culture, sports, science, technology, entrepreneurship, social activities, leadership, and religious organizations. Through this event, new students gained valuable insight into the extracurricular opportunities available throughout their academic journey at ITK.

More than just an exhibition, the festival allowed freshmen to interact directly with UKM members and officers. Students were free to visit each booth, ask questions about organizational programs, regular activities, achievements, recruitment processes, and the experiences of being actively involved in student organizations.

The festival was filled with enthusiasm as freshmen actively engaged in discussions with representatives from UKMs that matched their interests and talents. These interactions are expected to help students identify organizations that best support their personal growth beyond academic activities.

Each UKM also introduced its unique identity through displays of achievements, activity documentation, creative exhibitions, and promotional materials, giving participants a firsthand look at the vibrant student organization culture at ITK.

Joining a Student Activity Unit is expected to provide students not only with opportunities to pursue their hobbies and interests but also to develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and networking skills with fellow students from various study programs.

Through the UKM Festival as part of SPIn-ETAM 2026, Institut Teknologi Kalimantan reaffirmed its commitment to introducing the university's student organization ecosystem from the very beginning of campus life. It is hoped that freshmen will find organizations that align with their interests and potential, enabling them to grow academically and personally while becoming active, creative, adaptive, and impactful members of the ITK community.
