Balikpapan - A student of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) has once again demonstrated an active role in supporting community-oriented programs through the Independent Professional Internship Program. Muhammad Ryan Widyadhana Arasera, a 2022 Digital Business student, carried out his internship at the Balikpapan City Environmental Agency (DLH), focusing on community capacity building through digital publications, education, outreach, and environmental information assistance.
During the internship, Ryan contributed to strengthening DLH Balikpapan’s digital publications by utilizing creative tools, including Canva, to help deliver information in a more attractive, understandable, and relevant way for the public. Through a digital marketing approach, he helped optimize publication content so that messages related to environmental issues could be communicated more effectively to the community.
Ryan joined the program with the aim of developing his skills in digital marketing, visual communication, and public education. For him, the internship became a hands-on learning opportunity to understand how digital publication strategies can support government programs, particularly those related to environmental issues in Balikpapan.
Throughout the internship, Ryan was supervised by Deli Yansyah, S.E., M.Acc., Ak. He considered the internship environment at DLH Balikpapan supportive for learning, both in terms of available facilities and opportunities to be involved in publication activities. However, he also encountered several technical challenges, such as unstable internet connectivity, which became part of his adaptation process in a professional work setting.
This activity shows that ITK students are not only equipped with academic knowledge, but are also encouraged to apply their expertise directly in government institutions and society. Through his contribution to digital publications, the ITK Digital Business student is expected to help strengthen environmental literacy, support public communication by government agencies, and create a meaningful impact for the people of Balikpapan.
