Balikpapan – A student from Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) has once again achieved a remarkable non-academic accomplishment. Kesya Tiara Davina, a 2025 student of the Urban and Regional Planning Study Program, won two awards at the 2026 Balikpapan Open II National Pencak Silat Championship, organized by IPSI.

The championship was held on April 23–26, 2026, at BSCC Dome Balikpapan. In this competition, Kesya successfully earned 1st Place in the Women’s Adult Single Artistic Category and 2nd Place in the Women’s Adult Freestyle Single Artistic Category. This achievement shows that ITK students continue to grow not only in academics, but also in sports and other fields of talent.

Before joining the competition, Kesya prepared for around one and a half months. Despite her academic activities, she consistently managed her time for training. Her preparation included improving endurance, stamina, movement stability, and developing new artistic movements for her performance.

For Kesya, participating in this championship was not only about winning, but also about developing herself and contributing to the growth of pencak silat in Indonesia. She hopes to support the spirit of creating pencak silat athletes who are disciplined, competitive, and able to bring pride to their region and country.

“During the competition, I felt nervous because I had to face strong and well-known opponents. However, through prayer, training, and hard work, I was able to complete the competition well,” Kesya said. This achievement is also expected to inspire other ITK students to keep exploring their potential and taking opportunities to grow. Kesya hopes that ITK students will continue to achieve excellence in both academic and non-academic fields.

“I hope ITK students will continue to be motivated to achieve more. This campus must continue to uphold the spirit of hard work, courage, and growth,” she added. Kesya’s achievement is a clear example that the campus environment can serve as a space for students to develop their abilities, build a winning mentality, and bring pride to ITK at the national level.
