Balikpapan, August 12, 2024 - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) once again welcomed new students during the admission ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year. A total of 1,613 students were officially accepted as part of the ITK family. Among these students, six are recipients of the Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi (ADIK) scholarship program, who traveled all the way from Papua to pursue higher education in Kalimantan. On this occasion, three of the ADIK scholarship recipients—Alpius Inggibal, Tania Prisqilla Assem, and Timeon Walilo—shared their experiences and motivations. All three are students in the Urban and Regional Planning program.
When asked why they chose ITK, Timeon Walilo expressed his admiration for the quality of the campus. "In my opinion, this is a great campus, so I came all the way from Papua to study here," said Timeon enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Tania Prisqilla Assem admitted that her decision to study at ITK was influenced by a recommendation from her older sibling. "It was recommended by my older sibling," she answered briefly but confidently. On the other hand, Alpius Inggibal also received a recommendation, but he emphasized that his interest in ITK had been there from the beginning. "It was recommended, and I was indeed interested, and fortunately, I received the quota," explained Alpius.
When they first set foot at ITK, the three students felt an extraordinary warmth and enthusiasm. Tania shared her impression of the friendliness she experienced from the seniors on campus. "Everyone here is very friendly," she said with a smile. Alpius, on the other hand, felt extremely excited seeing ITK, which he considered one of the best campuses in Kalimantan. "I am very excited because I see this as the best campus in Kalimantan," he said with bright eyes.
When asked about how they learned about the ADIK scholarship, Timeon and Alpius said they received the information from relatives. Meanwhile, Tania, whose school was close to the Sorong Education Office, obtained the information through government socialization.
Regarding the benefits of the ADIK scholarship, Alpius couldn't hide his gratitude. "It is very helpful because it reduces the burden on my parents. I happen to come from a less fortunate family, so this scholarship is really helpful for me. I am proud to have received this scholarship," Alpius said with deep emotion.
These three students represent the spirit of Papua's youth, who are determined to contribute to Indonesia through higher education. Their presence at ITK not only enriches the diversity of the campus but also underscores ITK's commitment to supporting inclusive education across Indonesia. They are the next generation who will build Indonesia's future with knowledge and strong determination.
