ITK Rector Speaks at IndoMS Kalimantan Regional Webinar 2026 on STEM-Driven Digital Transformation

Balikpapan – The Rector of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., served as one of the keynote speakers at the 2026 Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) Kalimantan Regional Webinar, held virtually via Zoom on Saturday (June 27). Carrying the theme "The Role of STEM in Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development," the webinar brought together academics, researchers, doctoral students, lecturers, and STEM practitioners from across Indonesia.

ITK's participation reflects the university's commitment to strengthening the role of higher education in advancing national development through science, technology, research, and innovation. In addition to the Rector's presentation, the university was represented by lecturers and researchers from several academic programs.

Attended by more than 100 participants, the webinar featured discussions on strategic issues, including digital transformation in education, industrial applications of mathematics, data-driven technologies for sustainable development, and collaborative research among universities, industry, and government. The forum also served as a platform to reinforce Indonesia's research and innovation ecosystem in support of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.

The webinar featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., President of IndoMS, who was represented by Prof. Dr. Yus Mochamad Cholily, M.Si., First Vice President for Human Resources, Education, and Learning of IndoMS from Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Also participating was Dr. Evi Noviani, S.Si., M.Si., Governor of IndoMS Kalimantan Region.

The event was jointly organized by mathematics-related study programs from universities across Kalimantan, including Universitas Tanjungpura, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Universitas Palangka Raya, Universitas Balikpapan, and Institut Teknologi Kalimantan through its Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science study programs.

During his presentation, Prof. Agus Rubiyanto emphasized that ITK's participation in the scientific forum reflects the university's strategic role as a technology-focused institution located near Indonesia's future capital, Nusantara (IKN).

"ITK views this forum as an important platform to align the role of higher education with the national agenda of digital transformation and sustainable development. As a technology university located in Kalimantan and in close proximity to Nusantara, ITK is committed to producing impactful research, innovation, and highly qualified STEM graduates who will contribute to regional and national development," he stated.

He further highlighted that digital transformation and sustainable development require strong scientific and technological capabilities supported by close collaboration among universities, government, industry, and society.

Representing the President of IndoMS, Prof. Yus Mochamad Cholily expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and valuable contributions of the speakers. He noted that the webinar marked a significant step toward strengthening Indonesia's sustainable STEM research ecosystem while fostering broader collaboration among higher education institutions and stakeholders.

Through its participation in the IndoMS Kalimantan Regional Webinar 2026, ITK reaffirmed its commitment to advancing higher education, research, and innovation while expanding strategic partnerships to support the development of Kalimantan, Nusantara (IKN), and Indonesia Emas 2045.
