Balikpapan – A sense of enthusiasm and hope was felt from early morning at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) and SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Al-Mujahidin Balikpapan, which served as partner locations for the 2025 UTBK-SNBT. These two sites hosted the Computer-Based Written Examination – National Selection Based on Tests (UTBK-SNBT), held from April 23 to 30, 2025.
A total of 4,958 participants were registered to take the exam at these two locations, making ITK the sole strategic center for UTBK implementation in East Kalimantan. The exam was conducted over eight days and divided into two daily sessions: morning and afternoon.
As the main venue, ITK prepared various supporting facilities, including modern computer labs, stable internet connectivity, and a technical team and committee ready to assist participants. SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Al-Mujahidin also contributed by providing capable facilities and support staff. ITK collaborated with the school to increase room capacity for the exam.
“Interestingly, this year ITK has provided a special area for participants with disabilities, as a form of commitment to creating inclusive and accessible education for all,” said Prof. Erma Suryani, ITK Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. “This facility is designed to help participants with special needs take the test comfortably and smoothly.”
Participants came from various regions across Kalimantan, bringing with them hope and determination to pass the selection and continue their education at top public universities. Many arrived early to ensure they were well-prepared for this important exam.
UTBK-SNBT is part of the National Selection for New Student Admission (SNPMB), organized by the Center for Educational Testing Management (BPPP). This test serves as one of the main pathways for prospective students to enter public universities throughout Indonesia.
The ITK Rector expressed optimism about this year’s UTBK:
“We hope this year’s UTBK runs smoothly and that ITK gets the best students. Specta!”
With its smooth execution, the 2025 UTBK-SNBT in Balikpapan is not only a selection event but also a symbol of collaboration and real support from educational institutions like ITK in expanding access to higher education in eastern Indonesia.
