Balikpapan – Shell Indonesia held its Shell LiveWire Energy Solutions 2025 entrepreneurship roadshow at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, as part of a national initiative to empower young entrepreneurs in the energy sector.
The roadshow aims to engage students and young entrepreneurs—those with either early-stage businesses or promising ideas in the energy sector—to apply for and participate in Shell’s comprehensive entrepreneurship development program. Prior to arriving in Balikpapan, the roadshow took place in Yogyakarta at Universitas Gadjah Mada and will conclude with a national webinar.
The event at ITK featured a series of panel discussions and sharing sessions, bringing together industry professionals, academics, and successful program alumni to discuss innovation, collaboration, and impact in the future of renewable energy business. Speakers included:
This year marks the first time the roadshow was held in Kalimantan, reflecting Shell Indonesia’s commitment to expanding opportunities across Indonesia, including regions with untapped entrepreneurial potential.
The event also highlighted the success story of BANANA & Partners, a startup from Balikpapan that won Shell LiveWire Energy Solutions in 2022 with their innovative waste management solution. The team later achieved international recognition as a Runner-Up in the global Top Ten Innovators competition, which features Shell LiveWire entrepreneurs from around the world.
Shell LiveWire Energy Solutions is an annual program designed to support young entrepreneurs working in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Selected participants will undergo intensive mentorship and training over several months and receive funding support. Outstanding participants may also compete globally through the Top Ten Innovators program.
Since its launch in 2018, Shell LiveWire has been part of Shell Indonesia’s social investment efforts, focusing on fostering entrepreneurship in sustainable energy. Through this initiative, Shell Indonesia continues to empower the next generation to create impactful energy solutions that benefit communities and drive positive change.
