On Thursday, March 13, 2025, President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, hosted a gathering and panel discussion with rectors and leaders of public and private universities at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. The meeting discussed the crucial role of higher education in advancing the nation through research, innovation, and the enhancement of human resources (HR).
Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikti) Saintek emphasized that a nation that masters science and technology will prosper. "The President also conveyed that only a nation that masters science and technology will be a prosperous nation," he stated.
President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the strategic role of higher education in developing industries based on research and innovation. He also stressed the importance of maintaining academic integrity and promoting an anti-corruption culture among future generations. "The culture of anti-corruption must continue to be instilled in the next generation of Indonesia," he added.
Additionally, the President encouraged universities to produce outstanding products to achieve national independence, from food security to the downstream processing of minerals. ITK, as a science and technology campus, is also actively involved in supporting research, innovation, and promoting integrity and anti-corruption.
The event was attended by rectors from various renowned universities, including the University of Lampung (Unila), Suryadharma University, Gorontalo State University (UNG), ITS, ITB, and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and System Engineering at ITS. Also present were Air Marshal (Ret.) Dr. Sungkono, S.E., M.Si., Member of the MRPTN, and Chair Professor Dr. Eduard Wolok, Rector of UNG.
This meeting is expected to strengthen the collaboration between the government and higher education institutions to create a better future for Indonesia, with research and innovation as the key to the nation's progress.
