Balikpapan — Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) has received another proud achievement. In addition to preparing to host the 2026 Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI), ITK has successfully advanced five student teams to the next stage after being declared successful in the 2026 KRTI Proposal Selection, announced by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs on June 24, 2026.

This achievement is even more remarkable because the five ITK teams qualified in five different divisions, reflecting the strength and breadth of ITK students’ competencies in flying robot technology development. The qualifying ITK teams are Vajrasuparna Asma in the Fixed Wing (FW) Division, Alap-Alap Asmawarman ITK in the Long Endurance Low Altitude (LELA) Division, Meep Meep in the Racing Plane (RP) Division, Pandhega Daksa in the Technology Development (TD) Division, and Evosky in the Vertical Take-off and Landing (VToL) Division.

Nationally, a total of 213 teams from universities across Indonesia were declared successful in the 2026 KRTI Proposal Selection and are eligible to proceed to the next stage. Among them, ITK stands out as one of the universities that successfully advanced teams in all competition divisions. This highlights ITK’s readiness not only as the host institution, but also as a university actively nurturing outstanding talents in aerospace technology.

The five divisions entered by ITK in KRTI 2026 represent a broad spectrum of flying robot technology development, ranging from fixed-wing unmanned aircraft and long-endurance flight missions to racing planes, technology development, and vertical take-off and landing systems. This achievement confirms that ITK students are capable of competing across multiple categories that demand innovation, design precision, system integration, and high technical performance.

Based on the announcement letter, all teams that passed the 2026 KRTI Proposal Selection are now required to prepare a Progress Report, with the submission deadline set for August 11, 2026. This stage will be crucial in determining each team’s readiness before moving on to the main competition.

The success of these five teams further strengthens ITK’s momentum in welcoming KRTI 2026, especially as the university is also being prepared as the host of the competition in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area. With this role, ITK is present not only as an organizer, but also as a representation of a technology-focused university in Kalimantan that is capable of delivering national-level achievements.

This accomplishment serves as further proof that the ecosystem of research development, innovation, and student talent cultivation at ITK continues to grow positively. Through KRTI 2026, ITK once again reaffirms its commitment to supporting the emergence of a young generation that is excellent, adaptive, and ready to contribute to the advancement of Indonesia’s future technologies.
