Jakarta – The Institute of Technology Kalimantan (ITK) participated in the National Dialogue of the 2026 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI), held on 26–28 June 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta. The national forum was officially opened and closed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

ITK's delegation was led directly by the Rector of ITK, Agus Rubiyanto, accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, deans, members of the senate and institutional bodies, as well as the Head of the Academic and General Affairs Bureau. ITK’s participation in this forum reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions to national development, particularly through the advancement of science, technology, research, and innovation.

The 2026 KSTI National Dialogue carried the theme, “Strategies for Indonesia’s Economic Independence and Prosperity.” The forum brought together more than 2,600 participants, including university leaders, lecturers, scientists, researchers, industry partners, and stakeholders from various sectors.

Throughout the event, participants attended a series of strategic sessions discussing key national issues, ranging from agriculture, energy, downstream industrialization, technological sovereignty, state-owned enterprise transformation, maritime and fisheries development, food security, culture, to economics and finance.

The forum also featured several ministers and prominent national figures, including Brian Yuliarto, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, and Fadli Zon. The presence of these policymakers further strengthened the forum as a platform for exchanging ideas among the government, universities, businesses, industries, and society in promoting national self-reliance.

Rector Agus Rubiyanto stated that ITK’s participation in the 2026 KSTI National Dialogue serves as an important momentum to reinforce the university’s development direction as a technological higher education institution located in the strategic region of Kalimantan and in close proximity to the new capital city, Nusantara.

“ITK views this forum as an important platform to align the role of higher education institutions with the nation’s major development agenda. As a technology-oriented university in Kalimantan, located near the new capital city (IKN), ITK has the responsibility to deliver research, innovation, and highly competent human resources capable of creating tangible impacts for the region and Indonesia,” said the Rector.

He further emphasized that economic independence cannot be separated from a nation’s ability to master technology, strengthen applied research, and foster cross-sector collaboration.

In his closing remarks at the National Dialogue, President Prabowo Subianto expressed appreciation for the various recommendations and inputs provided by academics and scientists. He affirmed that the proposals presented during the forum would be taken into consideration, including support for doctoral scholarships for lecturers, increased research funding, and enhanced collaboration between universities and various institutions.

Through its participation in this national forum, ITK reaffirmed its commitment to continuously contributing to the strengthening of Indonesia’s higher education, research, and innovation ecosystem. ITK’s presence at KSTI 2026 also represents a strategic step toward expanding collaborative networks and enhancing the university’s contribution to the development of Kalimantan, the new capital city (IKN), and Indonesia as a whole.
