Malaysia - A student from the Informatics Study Program at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), Azzatul Nabila Kahar (Class of 2022), has achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the international level. She was awarded 1st Place (Best Leader) at the International Youth Innovation Summit (IYIS) Batch 19, organized by the Global Youthpreneur Nusantara (GYN) Foundation.
The competition was held on January 26–29, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore, bringing together participants from various countries with a focus on innovations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the event, Azzatul led a cross-institutional team consisting of students from several universities across Indonesia. The team presented an innovation titled “LEARNABLE: A Digital Platform Innovation for Accessible Education for Children with Special Needs (CNS) in Indonesia’s 3T Regions.”
LEARNABLE is a mobile-based platform designed to support inclusive education systems for children with special needs. The platform features adaptive learning materials, accessibility tools such as audio and text-based content, as well as an integrated mentoring system involving teachers and parents.
Azzatul explained that the innovation was driven by the limited access to inclusive education in Indonesia, particularly in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
“Through LEARNABLE, we aim to provide a more equitable and accessible education solution for all children, including those with special needs,” she stated.
The preparation process was carried out intensively over approximately two months, including concept development, UI/UX design, business model formulation, and presentation training. The project was then presented before an international panel of judges through a comprehensive pitch and prototype demonstration.
This achievement not only marks a personal milestone for Azzatul but also brings pride to ITK on the global stage. It reflects the capability of ITK students to contribute innovative solutions to global challenges, particularly in the field of inclusive education. Moving forward, the LEARNABLE innovation is expected to be further developed and implemented to support equitable access to education across Indonesia.
