Balikpapan - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) held a Character Building and Strengthening Shared Values Program as part of its commitment to developing human resources who are not only academically excellent but also grounded in strong character and integrity.

The event was attended by the Rector of ITK, Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., along with university leaders and the entire academic community. The session also featured Prof. Dr. Imam Abadi, S.T., M.T., a Professor from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), as the keynote speaker.

The program began with a solemn atmosphere through the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Naila Puspita Sari (Student of Safety Engineering) and Andi Alif Hasanudin (Student of Safety Engineering), creating a reflective and meaningful environment for participants.

The spiritual ambiance was further enriched by a hadroh performance from the Mahasiswa Pecinta Shalawat (MAPS) ITK Student Organization, reinforcing a sense of unity and togetherness throughout the event.

In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc. emphasized that strengthening shared values and character is fundamental in building an impactful university.

“A university is not merely a place for knowledge transfer, but also a space for character formation. Through this program, we aim to reinforce that honesty, togetherness, and meaningful contribution must become integral values for every member of ITK,” he stated.

Meanwhile, during the keynote session, Prof. Dr. Imam Abadi, S.T., M.T. invited participants to reflect on the essence of life, highlighting that everything humans possess is merely entrusted to them and will ultimately return to Allah SWT.

He also stressed the importance of honesty as a foundation for trust and inner peace, and reminded that the best individuals are those who bring the greatest benefit to others.

The event concluded with a group photo session and a warm halal bihalal gathering, strengthening bonds among the ITK academic community.

Through this initiative, ITK continues to affirm its commitment to creating a campus environment that not only excels academically but also nurtures individuals who are ethical, human-centered, and impactful to society.
