Balikpapan, October 19, 2025 - Sunday morning at the Grand City Balikpapan area was filled with excitement and enthusiasm as hundreds of participants joined the ITK Fun Run 2025, one of the special events celebrating the 11th Anniversary of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK).

The 5-kilometer fun run was attended by more than 900 participants, including ITK’s academic community, students, sports clubs, and the general public. The event began early in the morning with a warm-up session led by an instructor, accompanied by upbeat music that created a lively and cheerful atmosphere before the participants were released to start the run.

Participants enthusiastically completed the 5K route, cheered on by spectators and committee members along the track, boosting their motivation to reach the finish line. After all runners arrived, the event continued with the announcement of the Top 3 Finishers, with the fastest runner recording a time of 17 minutes and 56 seconds. Additionally, the committee also gave recognition to the Top 50 Finishers who achieved the best completion times.

In his remarks, ITK Rector Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., expressed his pride in the public’s enthusiasm for the event.

“This Fun Run is not just a sports event it’s a symbol of synergy between the campus and the Balikpapan community. We want ITK to grow and thrive together with the people around us,” he stated.

The excitement continued with the distribution of various attractive door prizes, including televisions, sports shoes, watches, and many other gifts, which heightened participants’ enthusiasm. Beyond sports, the event also featured free health check-ups for the public as a form of ITK’s concern for promoting a healthy lifestyle and community well-being.

As the event drew to a close, the atmosphere became even livelier with a DJ performance, bringing energetic beats to create a festive after-run party. Participants enjoyed the moment, taking group photos and celebrating their achievement of completing the course with proud smiles.

The event was also attended by ITK leaders, lecturers, and administrative staff, who joined the community in the celebration demonstrating ITK’s strong commitment to building closeness with the public through positive activities.

With the spirit of collaboration and togetherness, ITK Fun Run 2025 became one of the memorable highlights of ITK’s 11th Anniversary celebration serving not only as a birthday commemoration but also as a manifestation of ITK’s contribution to promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening social bonds, and expanding its positive impact across Balikpapan and beyond.
