Balikpapan, November 13, 2025 – The Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) has once again achieved a positive milestone in the fields of research and community service. Based on the Decree of the Director of Research and Community Service No. 0968/C3/DT.05.00/2025 dated October 28, 2025, ITK has officially maintained its position in the “Utama” (Main) Cluster in the 2026 Higher Education Clustering released by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
The clustering of higher education institutions is a mechanism for grouping universities based on their research and community service performance, using data from the SINTA (Science and Technology Index) for the 2022–2024 period. The assessment is based on data verified by each university’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), covering components such as authors, affiliations, articles, research projects, community service activities, intellectual property rights, and books.
Through this mechanism, the performance of higher education institutions is identified and categorized objectively to serve as a foundation for the development of national research roadmaps and strategic plans in research and community engagement. The clustering results are also expected to foster cross-cluster collaboration, strengthen inter-university synergy, and enhance the contribution of higher education to sustainable national development.
This achievement serves as tangible evidence of ITK’s commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of its Tri Dharma of Higher Education — education, research, and community service — reinforcing ITK’s role as a leading technological institution in eastern Indonesia.
