His participation is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) aimed at enhancing leadership quality within Indonesian higher education institutions.
The PKKPT program is designed to expand the leadership and managerial capacity of rectors, guiding their universities toward becoming world-class institutions. A key aspect of the program is fostering integrated collaboration between universities, strategic industries, and global institutions.
Enhancing the capacity of university rectors is crucial to ensuring that their institutions are on the right path toward achieving higher education goals that are more innovative, of higher quality, and positively impactful for society and the world at large.
The PKKPT program for rectors includes the following activities:
The program spans seven days, from April 21 to 28, 2024, in South Korea. The activities include an opening ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, training sessions, and visits to Seoul National University, as well as relationship-building with industries at renowned companies like Samsung, Lotte, LG, and Naver, all based in Seoul. During visits to Lotte and Naver, the ITK Rector served as the spokesperson for the rectors, emphasizing the importance of global cooperation between universities and industries.
The highlight of the PKKPT program is the Awarding Day and Closing Ceremony on the final day, where participants will receive recognition for their dedication and contributions to enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
One of the expected outcomes of the PKKPT program is the development of a university project plan that can be implemented during the rectors' tenure, with measurable results and a positive impact on the advancement of the educational institution.
In addition to Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto from ITK, 17 other state university rectors were also selected to participate in this program at Seoul National University, Korea. Participants come from various universities across Indonesia, such as Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Andalas, and many others.
The participation of these rectors in the PKKPT program is expected to contribute positively to advancing Indonesia’s higher education system toward global excellence.
