Balikpapan, May 6, 2026 — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), through the Visual Communication Design Study Program of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), held a socialization event for the Sketch Your Integrity Comic Competition. The event was conducted offline at the Auditorium of Building A, Institut Teknologi Kalimantan. This activity is part of an effort to build a culture of integrity within higher education through a creative, visual-based approach.
The event began with participant registration, followed by an opening ceremony and welcoming remarks delivered by the Vice Dean for Finance & General Affairs of the Faculty of Sustainable Development ITK, Dr. Eng. Ir. Arief Hidayat, S.T., M.S.P., M.T., IPM., IAP. In his remarks, he emphasized the important role of students as agents of change in instilling values of honesty, transparency, and anti-corruption within both campus life and the wider community.
The main session featured speakers from KPK, namely Masagung Dewanto, Head of the Higher Education Task Force at the Directorate of Education Network, and Erlangga Kharisma Adikusumah, Analyst for Corruption Crime Eradication at the same directorate. In their presentations, the speakers highlighted the importance of education as one of the key strategies in combating corruption, alongside enforcement and prevention.
Through the materials presented, participants were encouraged to understand various forms of unethical behavior commonly found in academic environments, such as plagiarism, proxy attendance, misuse of funds, and gratification. It was also emphasized that building an anti-corruption culture can begin with simple actions through individual awareness and the courage to act with integrity.
The Sketch Your Integrity comic competition serves as an alternative medium for delivering anti-corruption messages in a creative and communicative way. Comics are considered effective because they combine visual and narrative elements that are closely related to everyday life, making the messages easier to understand and more engaging for younger audiences.
The competition is open to students from Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, ISI Bali, and ISI Surakarta, either individually or in groups. The submission period at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan runs from May 7 to June 13, 2026. The submitted works are expected to represent values of integrity, transparency, and constructive criticism of relevant social issues.
Participants showed great enthusiasm during the interactive discussion and Q&A session. Various questions were raised regarding technical aspects of the competition, assessment criteria, and the development of comic story ideas aligned with the theme of integrity.
Through this activity, ITK hopes that students will not only understand the importance of anti-corruption values but also be able to express them through impactful creative works. This competition is expected to be a concrete step in fostering a generation that is ethical, critical, and capable of contributing positively to the nation.
The event concluded with the hope that all participants will actively take part in the competition and continue to internalize integrity values in their daily lives.
