Balikpapan— The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education, or LPDP, held an information session on the 2026 Phase II LPDP Scholarship Program at the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) in Balikpapan on July 16, 2026. In addition to providing information about its scholarship programs, the event emphasized the importance of applicant integrity and equal access to education for people across Indonesia.

During the application process, LPDP stressed that scholarship essays must be written honestly and genuinely reflect the applicants’ own ideas. The essays should describe their experiences, motivation, personal values, educational goals, and plans to contribute after completing their studies.

Applicants are prohibited from using artificial intelligence to generate or compose the entire essay. This policy is intended to ensure that the essay remains an authentic representation of the applicant’s character and way of thinking.

An essay is not merely an administrative requirement. It is also one of the tools used by the selection committee to understand an applicant’s perspective, personal values, seriousness, and commitment. A simple but authentic essay can provide a clearer picture of an applicant than a polished essay that does not genuinely reflect their experiences or thoughts.

For this reason, honesty is an essential principle throughout every stage of the LPDP Scholarship selection process. Applicants are expected to present themselves truthfully rather than relying on technology to create an idealized version of their personal story.

In addition to emphasizing integrity, LPDP continues to expand access for applicants from disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions, commonly referred to as 3T areas. One form of support concerns foreign-language certification requirements. Eligible applicants may obtain language certification through the nearest public university, in accordance with the applicable program regulations.

This policy is expected to reduce geographical barriers and address the limited availability of testing facilities in several regions. Through these measures, access to LPDP scholarships is not limited to applicants in major cities but is also open to young people from regions throughout Indonesia.

Through the information session at ITK, LPDP encouraged prospective applicants to prepare carefully, understand all requirements, and uphold honesty throughout the application process. The scholarship program seeks not only academically capable candidates, but also individuals with integrity, clear goals, and a strong commitment to creating meaningful contributions for Indonesia.
