Radja Nikra Achmad, a 2022 Safety Engineering student from the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK), has just completed a valuable experience in the Student Mobility Program (PMM) at the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Jakarta. Notably, Radja was the only representative from ITK to participate in this program.

Throughout the approximately four-month program, Radja engaged in a variety of activities that left a profound impression, particularly during the welcome ceremony. This event marked the beginning of his interaction with other PMM students, and Radja felt a warm and unawkward atmosphere despite meeting everyone for the first time.

Radja chose to participate in PMM to experience campus exchange, something he had previously thought was impossible. His motivation was further fueled by the saying, "It's better to fail at trying than to never try at all." This saying encouraged him to seize the opportunity and face the challenge.

One of the biggest challenges Radja faced was the difference in accent and everyday language use. The shift from "aku" and "kamu" to "lu" and "gue" felt strange to him. However, this difference added color and uniqueness to his experience.

During the PMM program, Radja was involved in various activities, from regular academic learning to Nusantara Modules, which included visits to cultural sites, outbound activities, social contributions, and more. At UPN Veteran Jakarta, Radja and other students also participated in Friday morning exercise sessions and seminars hosted by the campus.

This experience was truly memorable for Radja, aligning with the PMM program's slogan: "Exchanging temporarily, meaning forever." Meeting people from diverse backgrounds and exchanging stories made Radja feel he had found a second family while away from home.

Looking ahead, Radja hopes to participate in the Certified Independent Study Internship (MSIB) program to gain internship experience in a company and prepare for the professional world.

Radja’s experience at UPN Veteran Jakarta demonstrates that student exchange programs not only provide academic enrichment but also transform perspectives and open doors for future opportunities.
