Balikpapan, June 19, 2025 — Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) held the soft launching of its Master of Technology Management (MTM) program at the Integrated Laboratory Auditorium. The event featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Ir. Aditya Sutantio, M.MT, who delivered a lecture titled “The Role of the MTM Program in Developing Competitive and Professional Human Resources for East Kalimantan and IKN.”
Dr. Aditya highlighted several challenges related to human capital development in East Kalimantan, including the skill gap in technology management, limited educational infrastructure, and brain drain to other regions. Despite these challenges, East Kalimantan remains a key contributor to Indonesia’s national GDP, particularly in energy and mining (7.2%). The province’s strategic location and industrial growth present significant demand for professionals with strong managerial and technological expertise.
The MTM program is designed to meet the rising need for integrated business-technology leaders. According to Dr. Aditya, MTM aims to cultivate technopreneurial, innovative, and agile leaders who can navigate rapid technological change and industrial transformation. The program offers specializations in Project Management, Information Technology Management, and Energy Management, supported by a flexible hybrid learning model.
“The MTM program at ITK acts as a bridge between academia, industry, and government — a vital synergy for supporting sustainable development in East Kalimantan and IKN,” Dr. Aditya noted.
Dr. Aditya emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry players and government institutions. Through guest lectures, industrial visits, applied research, and curriculum development partnerships, the MTM program ensures that graduates are industry-ready and equipped with real-world experience.
As the only Master of Technology Management program in Kalimantan, MTM ITK offers a unique opportunity for professionals and fresh graduates seeking advanced education aligned with the region’s development. Its interdisciplinary nature allows applicants from diverse undergraduate backgrounds to enroll, making it a dynamic platform for professional growth.
