Reinforcing Academic Foundations: ITK's Information Technology Study Program Team Conducts Benchmarking Visit to ITS

Surabaya, 25 July 2025 - In an effort to prepare a relevant and competitive curriculum, the Preparation Team for the Information Technology Study Program at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Department of Information Technology at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya. This activity in purpose to gain valuable insights and strategic input from one of Indonesia's leading educational institutions.

The benchmarking team from ITK consisted of several lecturers from the FSTI, including Mr. Ir. I Putu Deny Arthawan Sugih Prabowo, M.Eng., as the team leader, along with team members Mr. Ir. Muhammad Ridho Dewanto, S.T., M.T., Mrs. Amalia Rizqi Utami, S.T., M.T., Mrs. Luh Made Wisnu Satyaninggrat, S.Kom., M.T., Mr. Boby Mugi Pratama, S.Si., M.Han., and Mr. Himawan Wicaksono, S.ST., M.T. The team was also accompanied by Mr. M. Ihsan Alfani Putera, S.Tr.Kom., M.Kom., the Head of the Department of Electrical and Smart Informatics Engineering (JTEIB) at FSTI ITK.

The ITK team was warmly welcomed by the Head of the ITS Department of Information Technology, Dr.tech.Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc., along with his faculty members. During the productive discussion session, Dr. Hari—who is also a member of the APTIKOM (Indonesian Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computers) Information Technology Curriculum Development Team—provided constructive feedback on the draft curriculum prepared by the ITK team. The discussion covered various important aspects of the curriculum, such as the relevance of courses, teaching structure, and practical projects that support student competencies.

With the completion of this benchmarking visit, it is hoped that the foundation of the ITK Information Technology Study Program will be further strengthened. This activity is not only the beginning of developing a superior curriculum but is also expected to pave the way for a closer relationship between ITK and ITS in the future. This collaboration has the potential to extend to various other academic activities, such as joint research, student exchanges, and sustainable knowledge development, all for the advancement of higher education in Indonesia, particularly in the field of information technology.
