Balikpapan, October 4, 2025 – Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) once again made history through the solemn 19th Graduation Ceremony. This precious moment marked the success of graduates who have completed their academic journey, while also serving as the beginning of a new chapter to contribute to society.
The ceremony became even more special with the presence of Rizal Fernandy, S.T., M.MT, Director of PT Energy Lima Pilar, who delivered a scientific oration entitled “Big Dreams, Concrete Steps: Becoming Part of Golden Indonesia.” In his speech, Rizal offered both motivation and critical perspectives on the role of the young generation, especially university graduates, in welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2045 era.
Rizal emphasized that graduation is not the end, but rather the gateway to new challenges in the professional world. Global economic uncertainty, rapid technological advancements, and complex social dynamics are real challenges that graduates must face.
In the context of the demographic bonus, Rizal reminded the audience that Indonesia’s potential—having the majority of its population in productive age—will only be meaningful if accompanied by improvements in human resource quality, innovation, and productivity. He cited China’s success in utilizing its demographic bonus to drive economic growth and national transformation.
According to him, education in Indonesia should be directed toward problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity. He highlighted the need to strengthen vocational education, research, and the cultivation of entrepreneurial spirit from an early stage.
Rizal also underlined the importance of the 4C skills—Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration—supported by moral integrity and strong work ethic. “Educated people must have dignity and social awareness to give back to society,” he said, quoting Tan Malaka.
In his oration, Rizal pointed out three promising sectors for the future:
He described the younger generation, including ITK graduates, as game changers who will determine the nation’s direction toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
Concluding his oration, Rizal delivered an inspiring message to graduates not to hesitate in facing the long journey ahead after graduation. “Do not be discouraged if you do not immediately find a job. What matters most is whether you continue to grow, contribute, and make an impact on society,” he encouraged.
Thus, the graduation ceremony became a valuable moment not only for the graduates but also for ITK, reaffirming its commitment to producing excellent graduates with integrity, global competitiveness, and readiness to serve the nation.
