Saturday, August 17, 2024 – In commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) held a solemn flag-raising ceremony at the Integrated Laboratory Building 1 field. The event was attended by the entire ITK academic community, showcasing a strong spirit of nationalism despite the unfavorable weather, with rain falling at the beginning of the ceremony.
The ceremony was led by ITK’s Vice-Rector for Non-Academic Affairs, Prof. Erma Suryani, ST., MT., Ph.D., who acted as the ceremony supervisor. In a spirited atmosphere, even as the rain poured down, participants remained steadfast in their positions, demonstrating their commitment and respect for the nation’s independence celebration.
During the ceremony, Prof. Erma Suryani delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. In her address, she emphasized the importance of continuing the struggle to advance Indonesian education and culture, in line with Bung Karno’s message to continue filling independence with tangible development.
"As Bung Karno urged us to continue filling Indonesia's Independence, let us persist in the struggle to advance Indonesia's education and culture. Therefore, let us strengthen our resolve and efforts to propel Indonesia into the future," Prof. Erma asserted during her speech.
Another special moment in the ceremony was the awarding of the Satyalancana Karya Satya 20-year service medal to Aries Rohiyanto, A.Md., an ITK staff member who has dedicated himself with high commitment for two decades. This award is a token of appreciation for his loyalty and contributions to the institution’s development.
Following the flag-raising ceremony, the event continued with the opening ceremony of ITK's 10th Anniversary. This celebration of ITK's founding was the perfect conclusion to the flag ceremony, marking the first decade of ITK’s journey in making significant contributions to the advancement of education in Indonesia.
The atmosphere, initially dampened by rain, turned into one of joy and enthusiasm, with various activities planned to enliven the anniversary celebration.
The spirit of independence and unity reflected in this ceremony illustrates the determination of the entire ITK academic community to continue contributing to the nation, in line with the values of independence passed down by the nation's founders.
